Giving Thanks: A Holiday Recap

Posted by & filed under Uncategorized.

Here’s to hoping you enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving with your family this past (long!) weekend. TRB spent the holiday with her family, devouring a turkey and all of the trimmings. But what Thanksgiving would be complete without the traditional desserts?!!

In that spirit, TRB brings you a recap of the scrumptious goodies she shared with the fam – and, in keeping with tradition, the tried and true recipes you may want to try next year:

And, two *new* recipes that made their way to our Thanksgiving table – trust TRB, you’ll want to try these!

Olive Oil Cake
(Recipe courtesy of a fellow passionate baker and Abraço coffee shop, East Village, NYC).

1 1/2 c. flour

1 c. sugar

1/2 tsp

1/2 tsp

1/4 tsp kosher salt

2 large eggs

3/4 c whole milk

1/2 c olive oil

2 tsp orange zest*

1. Preheat oven to 325. Oil and flour a 9-inch loaf pan. Whisk first 5 ingredients in a large bowl.

2. In another bowl, whisk eggs, milk, olive oil and orange zest to blend. Gradually whisk this into the flour mixture. Scrape into your loaf pan.

3. Bake about 60-65 minutes* or until a tester inserted in the center of the cake comes out clean. Cool in pan, on rack, for 20 minutes, then cool completely on rack.

(*TRB substituted lemon zest for the orange in this recipe; the baking time was also reduced by 10 minutes).

How did you spend your Thanksgiving? What did you have for dessert? Share your recipes!
